22 year old domestic worker found dead in his boss' swimming pool

22 year old Onyeka Kingley Raphael (pictured above) was found dead in the bottom of a swimming pool in the home he worked as a domestic help. His body was removed early Saturday morning from a house on Babatunde Asimi Street, Ogudu GRA.
His family, suspecting foul play, has petitioned the police, asking for a thorough investigation because when Kingsley's body was removed by policemen from Ogudu police station, eye witnesses said there were no visible injuries on his body except a twisted neck, suggesting that the domestic worker may have been strangled before being dumped in the pool.

What the family also found odd was that the dinner Kingsley made for himself the night before was still on the kitchen table, with his cap near it, and also the fact that the security man who was home at the time of the incident said he didn't see or hear anything. The family also claimed that Kingsley and his boss, a retired accountant named Tunde Williams had a misunderstand a month earlier which almost got Kingsley fired. Kingsley had wanted to leave his job but his elder had begged him to stay because he needed the money for school.
The police promised Kingley's family that an autopsy will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death and told reporters that a thorough investigation will be carried out. The police also mentioned that Mr Williams was so far 'not cooperating with the police'

PHOTOS: PH singer claims she got paid N31m for semi-nude magazine shoot

We’re not believing a word of it but that’s what she’s claiming!
Her name is Adokiye Kyrian Yvonne and until now she was relatively a nobody.
She had however released a few singles in August 2012, one of which featured popular rapper Olamide. We listened to the song, it was horrible at best.
Rivers-born Adokiye is claiming she got paid $200,000 and was also given a Mercedes Benz G Wagon for this raunchy photo spread which has been featured in a New York magazine.
She however fails to divulge further details like the name of the magazine, where and when the photoshoot took place, only leading to the speculation that it is another desperate PR stunt.
Think of it as a brilliant idea or lame, Adokiye is getting her 60 seconds of fame right now as the photos have gone viral already.
Well done dear…

PHOTO: Rukky Sanda shows off back tattoo

Rukky Sanda’s takes acue from Tonto Dike
Tonto Dike isn’t the only actress that has a huge tattoo splattered all over her back, we were recently made aware of this.
Rukky Sanda recently bared her back, just like Tonto did last year. It’s not as bizarre as Ms Dike’s but equally as daring; the tattoos inscribed at the edge of her back look like a bouquet of flowers while the other inked very close to her spine is written in Japanese language.
Tonto who is very good friends with Sanda shocked us back in October 2011 when she revealed a ‘disturbing’ multi-coloured tattoo on her back.

***TWO MEN JAILED FOR ALMOST KILLING EACH OTHER OVER A GIRLFRIEND***

The police on Monday [Oct. 29] arraigned two men, Richard Maza, 28, and Ndukwe Okezuo, 24, before an Abuja Area Court for allegedly disturbing public peace and causing gri

evous hurt over the ownership of a lady’s heart.
Maza, of Anguwan Rogo Village, Abuja, and Okezuo, a labourer, at Galadimawa village, Abuja, allegedly committed the offence on Oct. 23.
Police prosecutor Clement Egwu told the court that the accused engaged in a fight in the house of Mercy Asuo of Anguwan Rogo, Abuja.
Egwu said Maza claimed that Asuo was his girlfriend and that he rented the house she was staying for her, while Okezuo also claimed Asuo was his girl friend.
The Police prosecutor said that on Oct. 23, when Maza visited his girl friend, he met Okezuo in the house and a fight broke out between the two, resulting in serious injuries to both of them.
The prosecutor said that Maza hit Okezuo’s head with a plank while Okezuo used a knife to cut off a big part of Maza’s lips.
Egwu said that Okezuo was receiving treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja, and would undergo a plastic surgery for a lip reconstruction.
Egwu said the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 312 and 289 of the Penal Code, but the accused pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Judge, Mr Ado Muktar, granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 and one reasonable surety each in like sum.
He said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and adjourned the case to Nov. 6, for further hearing.

***CHELSEA STAR MIKEL OBI RACIALLY ABUSED BY REFEREE***

OUTRAGED Chelsea stars have given sworn statements claiming John Obi Mikel WAS racially abused by ref Mark Clattenburg. They are prepared to give evidence to the FA inquiry set up to i

nvestigate the accusations after the 3-2 defeat by Manchester United.
The statements were taken from several senior players at the club’s training ground yesterday when they reported for a warm-down. It is also alleged Clattenburg called Juan Mata ‘a Spanish t**t.’
The row took a further twist last night when the Metropolitan Police became involved after the Association of Black Lawyers reported the incident as a “racially-aggravated offence” against Mikel and Mata. Police chiefs will now have to decide whether a criminal offence was committed by Clattenburg.
FA chiefs are determined to deal with the explosive allegations as a matter of urgency after being accused of dragging their feet over the John Terry case.
It took an independent commission an agonising 11 months to finally suspend the Chelsea captain for four games and fine him £220,000 for racially abusing QPR’s Anton Ferdinand.
Clattenburg, 37, has already been left off the list of appointments for this weekend’s Premier League fixtures. And he is unlikely to take charge of another game until the matter has been resolved.
The game’s governing body launched the inquiry last night after receiving an ‘extraordinary incident report’ from Clattenburg and a further report from match delegate Nick Cusack.
Chelsea have accused Clattenburg of using ‘inappropriate language’ to two of their players. Nigerian international Mikel is convinced he was racially insulted by Clattenburg and stunned the Chelsea dressing room when he repeated the words he believed had been used to him.
When it was then claimed that one of the club’s Spanish players, believed to be Mata, was also insulted by the ref, chairman Bruce Buck and chief executive Ron Gourlay were both summoned.
It is understood that at least three players aside from Mikel, including Brazilian Ramires, have stated they heard Clattenburg’s comments.
Boss Roberto Di Matteo was accompanied by Mikel when he confronted Clattenburg with the allegations in the referee’s room after the match.
And it was only after two hours of discussions with the players to establish the full facts that Chelsea decided to proceed with their official complaint.
Referees’ union Prospect declared: “We are committed to helping to eradicate racism in football and in society generally.
“In the context of that commitment, Prospect is offering full support to Mark Clattenburg in relation to the allegations made against him.”

***HEAVILY PREGNANT MERCY JOHNSON STILL SHOOTING MOVIES***

Mercy Johnson is about seven months pregnant but that hasn't slowed her down one bit as she's said to be moving from one movie location to another. What movie producers and marketer
s now do is write scripts that suit her condition - that of a pregnant woman.
She recently finished shooting a movie in Delta state and has embarked on another one titled Baby Oku in America which I hear some parts will be shot in the US while she's there to give birth.

***WOMAN RAPED TWICE IN ONE NIGHT BY TWO DIFFERENT MEN***

A woman who was dragged into an alleyway and raped after a night out was subjected to a second horrifying ordeal by another man as she lay recovering from the attack.
Mustafa Yussuf
was the first to prey on the woman as she walked through Manchester city centre on New year’s Eve, marching her into Church Street car park and raping her in a nearby lane.
After the assault the then 20-year-old fled the scene, leaving the woman helpless.
It was then that, instead of assisting her, another man pounced on the woman and raped her.
The distressing details of the double rape emerged as Yussuf, now 21, from Manchester, was jailed for seven years for the attack.
He claimed to have had a consensual encounter with the woman but denied rape.
But a jury at Manchester Crown Court trial rejected his account and found him guilty.
Judge Martin Steiger QC, sentencing, said he ‘hadn’t the slightest doubt’ that Yussuf was ‘perfectly aware’ the woman was too drunk to consent to any activity.
The court heard that the ‘mature’ woman had drunk to excess because of relationship problems, with CCTV showing she was unable to stand.
She was refused re-entry to the nightclub when she asked to be allowed in to search for her lost handbag.
In the aftermath of the double-rape attack she needed strangers’ help to get home and she was unable to remember what had happened to her for two hours.
Zoe Nield, defending, said: ‘This offence does appear to be an isolated incident – it was out of character for this defendant.’
The victim told court that her life had been shattered by the attack and had been isolated by a fear of going out.
Judge Steiger said: ‘At some point in the course of her ordeal she was raped by another individual.
‘There was never any charge laid against this defendant [Yussuf] for being party to that incident, which the complainant found in many ways the most traumatic feature of her ordeal.’
Another man was arrested for the second rape but released without charge

Dear Darryl Igbokwe`s blogspot readers: I went through my husband's phone and now I'm devastated

From a female Darryl Igbokwe`s blogspot reader

I went through my husband's phone yesterday because of my recent suspicions that he's cheating on me but what I saw on the phone was far worse than what I was expecting to find there. It has practically ruined my life. My husband told his cousin via bb chat that he had fallen out of love with me a long time ago, that the only reason he's still in the marriage was because of our three kids. We've been married for eight years and I've done everything I know how to be a good wife and this is what I get? It would have been less painful if he was cheating. I don't know what to do. I even called in sick to work this morning because I've not been able to stop crying. Should I confront him? Should I release him by giving him a divorce? I love this man to death and I can't believe he stopped loving me along the way. What did I do? He always said I was a good wife, when did I stop being that? He has been so distant lately that I thought he was seeing another woman. My husband has ruined my life.

Ripples of Hurricane Sandy may hit Lagos within a week - Govt

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday warned residents of the state to prepare for the ripple effect of Hurricane Sandy in the state.
The Commissioner for Waterfront Development and Infrastructure, Mr. Adesegun Oniru, said the government was projecting that within seven to 14 days, the state would experience the ripple effect of the hurricane in its coast lines.

He explained that the government based its projection on, “experience, records and study of past happenings” and had started taking precautionary measures.
Oniru said, “This warning is not to cause panic in Lagos, but to place us all on alert that if we notice anything unusual in our coast lines, we should not go near the waters but rather call government attention.
“This storm has hit the Caribbean and is now in USA. We always get a ripple effect of such happening in Lagos.
“This wind started in Africa, went west gathering more wind and later turning to hurricane. We expect a splash back effect. It could be on our coast lines and shore lines, it could be more than that. And it may not happen at all. Everybody must be vigilant. Let us be careful around our oceans and lagoons.”
The commissioner said the government was planning to protect Kuramo, Oniru, Majidun, Alpha beach and other areas affected by the last ocean surge in the state.
The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on the Environment, Dr. Taofeek Folami, urged the residents of the state to avoid flooding effect of the storm by refraining from dumping their refuse into drainage channels.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Lateef Ibirogba, urged the  state residents not to  panic, saying the alert was for them to know what to do to prepare for such occurence.

Paternity mess update: lover kicks Bisi Ibidapo Obe out of duplex, retrieves Range Rover

Culled this story from this week's edition of Encomium Magazine. All these drama. Read it below...
It is surely not the best of times for star actress, Bisi Ibidapo Obe. The actress who is wallowing in deep mess over her controversial pregnancy, has relocated to Ghana where she's said to be hibernating pending delivery of her baby.
According to an industry source, the actress decided to move out of Nigeria some days back after her UK based lover, Lopez, who is said to be footing the bill of her Magodo Lagos duplex, breezed into the country and kicked her out of the house. He was said to have taken the decision after it became obvious that he was not responsible for Bisi's pregnancy. Lopez returned to the UK after locking the house and withdrawing the Range Rover he bought for her, leaving behind her C-Class Mercedes Benz and Honda Element she acquired a while back. (Though a close friend of the actress denied the house was locked by Lopez but confirmed Bisi went to Ghana)

Nigerian sex trafficker used 'juju' to terrorise young orphans he raped after smuggling them into UK

A Nigerian smuggler who used witchcraft rituals to force children to work as sex slaves was jailed for 20 years on October 28th

Osezua Osolase, 42, tricked poverty-stricken Nigerian orphans into travelling to the UK with the promise of a better life. But the young victims were raped, sexually abused and subjected to voodoo-style rituals by a child trafficking ring.

Osolase, the linchpin of a multi-million pound global sex trafficking ring, used 'juju' magic to control his victims. He told the teenage girls they would die or never bear children if they tried to escape or revealed what had happened to them.

Caught on film: Osezua Osolase (in baseball cap) with young trafficking victims under surveillance at Stansted Airport. The children's faces have been obscured in order to protect their identities
Judge Adele Williams told Osolase: 'You are arrogant and manipulative, you are devoid of conscience, devoid of any compassion to your victims.

'You were dealing in exploitation and misery and degradation. You have been convicted on clear and compelling evidence of trafficking two girls in and out of the UK.
'Once they arrived in the UK the reality was explained to them that they were going to have to work as prostitutes.

'They were petrified that if they spoke out they would be harmed and killed.'

During the trial it emerged that Osolase raped one of the young girls knowing he had HIV. Judge Williams described this as a 'seriously aggravating' feature to his crimes.

At Canterbury Crown Court on Friday, Osolase was convicted of five counts of trafficking for sexual exploitation, one of rape and one of sexual activity with a child.

The charges relate to three girls aged 14, 16, and 17. One was raped and all three endured juju rituals, including one conducted by Osolase himself.

One feared she was being taken to another country to be used as a human sacrifice. Osolase slashed the chest of his youngest victim with a razor and rubbed black powder into her bleeding wounds.

On the surface, Osolase was a recycling worker living in a terraced house in Gravesend, Kent. But his home was a secret staging post for vulnerable teenage orphans as they were smuggled from Africa, via Britain, to several European countries.

Detectives discovered evidence that at least 28 victims were smuggled in and out of Britain over a 14-month period, earning him up to £1.5million.

Exclusive Interview: "I want a man I can feel safe with" - Nse Ikpe-Etim

Nollywood sensation, Nse Ikpe-Etim, is one actress that you can’t ignore. Whether it’s her impeccable diction or her sense of humour, Nse is a sweetheart that gets you cracked up each time you come across her. Witty and assertive, her profile continues to rise steadily in the midst of innumerable talents springing up in the highly competitive Nigerian movie industry. From Reloaded, which was her first movie, Nse has continued to endear herself to more fans and attract major nominations within the industry. In this interview with MERCY MICHAEL, the actress speaks on sundry issues. Excerpts:

EGO Boyo named you as one of her favourite Nollywood personalities. Coming from a senior colleague, how does that make you feel? Can you see the smile on my face? It’s an honour for Ego to mention my name. I will tell you that much because it is not easy for your name to be dropped as anything. It means you did something right, even if it is in one scene. So I’m thankful. I don’t know what it is. Should I say it is the directors that bring out something in me? Apart from the grace of God, the director brings something out and then the people you play with as well matter. They help you and if that doesn’t happen then you just rely on the art itself. Honestly, with what you just told me, I’m going to be smiling for days.

What is it you’re doing right? I always say that people should never rest on their oars. If you are told you cook well, you should know that you have to keeping making that food so that the recipe doesn’t change. You have to get use to it. And then you start adding little spices here and there. You learn to add these things to make your food stay sweet. It is not that you cannot cook but you need the staying power. I don’t know what it is but I cannot run away from the fact that I’ve got God’s grace on my life. I can’t run away from that. But as I said, you must learn not to rest on your oars. When I see something I’ve done before, I look at it, I find fault in the way I’ve reacted and I say I could have done this better. If I get a role that I think is similar, if this person was an Aquarian, I will make her a Libra the next time because everybody is different even if they live the same life. There is always a difference, even if they were born of the same mother.

One thing will make the difference. For every role you play, you must find one little thing with which you connect. In The Meeting for instance, Bolarinwa, which was the role I played, was a cameo. When they give you that kind of thing, you know that it’s ok, you are trying. Looking at the character, I’m like this chic, she was stupid. She was a silly person. Everybody has stupidity somewhere in them so I brought it out. My director cannot get over it and with my co-actors, they brought it to forefront. She’s very silly. Honestly, it was stupid. I can’t even talk about it.

Can you recall a particular scene you wish you had played differently? There is a scene in Reloaded where Femi, the character played by Ramsey Nouah, walks into the living room and I am with the girl. My character dropped for a second or two there. People might not notice but I saw it. These are things I’m trying to work on. Sometimes we just have to learn not to over heighten our emotions.

Of the roles you’ve played, which will you say has challenged you the most? Everyone has been challenging but I think the most recent is the one I just shot in Abuja. It is called Broken. That broke me. Mr. and Mrs. broke me to a point. Phone Swap broke me physically. Bolarinwa, having to be stupid like that, even I kept asking, is this how I want people to know me? Broken made me; see the strength of a woman from a different stand point. Having a family, yet not having one; trying to look for love, being able to tie your love and yet you have abandoned others. It was crazy but I was thankful for the cast I played it with, Bimbo Manuel and Kalu Ikeagwu.

What was it like acting alongside Bimbo Manuel? It was amazing. They were two people I always said I hoped I get to work with, so working with them, I liked it. Everyone had their breaking point in it because the movie will pull you and then you will break. A man cried on set and the camera wasn’t rolling. He will kill me if I say it but I will say it. Can you guess who it was? It wasn’t Bimbo. It was Kalu that broke. And he doesn’t look it.

You’ve been off and on set in recent times. How do you cope? I always give myself a break, no matter what. I do not go from one set to the next. I don’t have the power. If I have a script, I dedicate everything to it. When I’m done I rest. I cannot do that because I won’t give you what you want. I cannot pretend. If I lie, directors like Mildred Okoh will catch me in myself.

Do you hope to delve into other parts of the art like producing and directing in the latter part of your career? I’ve always said I’m predominantly an actor. I want to stay that way and milk this cow (laughs).

So, are you saying it’s a no, no for you? Because change is constant, I don’t know; but for now, I am loving my work in terms of loving the people I’ve been working with and loving the directors I work with. I just love putting a smile on people’s faces because we need something to remind us of who we are. That is what the art does for you. Acting reminds you that things have happened and things can happen. It is a constant reminder. Sometimes, these are the only things that people have to put a smile on their faces. So for me, that’s it.

Everyone has had one good thing to say about the movie, The Meeting. Let’s have your take on it? There have been romantic comedies but this one is satirical. There is no character you will not identify with because there is always a Makinde in someone’s office, there is always an Ejira, that girl that is very around. She’s playful, she’s almost innocent yet she knows what she wants. Then, there is always a Bolarinwa, check all these offices, there is always that Bolarinwa that will come in, there is always that Clara Ikemba, there is always that receptionist that will either make or mar your life. There is always a big man. The Meeting was like the man in the mirror. You look at it and you go like, ‘Oh! That’s me. I should change.’ It will make you laugh. It doesn’t condemn you because we are not saints, yet it says this is what we are doing. Let’s look into ourselves and make the right decision, make it right but with a laugh basically.

Before now, you had your perception about up-comers. Did it change after working with Femi Jacobs and Linda Ejifor? I will be very honest with you, I saw Ejira as different from Bimbe, the role she plays in Tinsel. Makinde plays the psychedelic lawyer in Tinsel. I saw him then, I saw a guy play a 40′s role. He walked in a funny way, he reacted in a funny way and I said, ‘Aunty May, where did you get him from?’ I had to ask. I’d watched him literally just blow out of proportion. You see intensity and you are like wow! Good! Our industry needs it. We need faces. We need new people because work is coming. It’s a new Nollywood so there has to be a lot more than we have, because the truth is, we’ve got talents in Nigeria. The question is, do they have a platform to be recognised? Who is willing to take that risk? Rita took that risk and no matter what, I am thankful for them. I was given a chance literally in Reloaded but I was supported by all the A-listers. I came out and there it was, Reloaded. Now, they’ve come out. They have all the other actors, Basorge, Kate Henshaw, Rita Dominic, Chinedu Ikedieze, Chika Chukwu, and then there is poor me there. We all worked and it was amazing.

Do you think that the fact that they had a platform like Tinsel did the magic? You will never lock talent up, no matter who you are. Talent will rise above everything. What makes it shine is attitude but you can’t lock talent up. You see it, you know it is talent. Even if they had not been in Tinsel, even if I had not seen them anywhere, I would have being wowed. For Linda, she’s willing to learn. She doesn’t think she knows it all. If people who have been there before don’t think they know all, then they will learn a lot more than they know. It is the same with Femi.

So I’m happier than they are for what they have because I literally come from that kind of thing. I was born of that. I know what it is like. When you have the support of the cast, you have a support of the director and the producer, the sky is just your limit.

Unlike TV, we don’t get to watch movies all the time. I’m sure your fans are waiting to see you on soap… One day, maybe one day, you will get to see more of me. There are talks but when the talk sweet we go do am.

Tell us your experience in Phone Swap I played Mary (laughs). You know, you have these girls who come to school but you know they are local. They have a degree but they are local. They do not even know how to use fork and knife because that is not how they were brought up. You know those girls, Agaracha. They don’t know anything. That was Mary. Now, Mary now sees the other side. She’s now trying to form like I can use fork and knife. She was exposed to these things but she didn’t know it. It wasn’t her way of life. Yes, I liked it.

On those days when you are stressed out, what calms you? Cooking calms me a lot. When I can’t sleep at night, I cook. I read a lot. I think that no knowledge is ever lost and reading brings a wealth of knowledge. If you constantly go there you can never lack. One thing I pray for is that our generation, the one after me actually, I’m hoping, will tell our kids to read.

My parents did that. They helped me to do that. I remember someone saying that I speak well. Them no dash me. I read a lot. I see a word I don’t know, I mark it down. I say to myself what does it mean. What’s its origin? Is it Greek? Is it French? Those are the questions I ask myself. So when you know these things when you are pronouncing it, it’s as if your father is a professor. Sometimes, I hang out with my friends. It’s therapeutic when I talk to my friends and let go of my fears. I also like to be alone a lot of the time, which is funny. I can just lie on the bed and just stay there.

What makes someone earn your friendship? Honestly, you know friendship is two ways but I always say for you to be able to be my friend and I your friend, I must be able to make excuses for you. It means I will not judge you ever. No matter what you do, I will see why you did it from your stand point. Even if it’s wrong, I will understand why you did it because you had told me. I will trust you for it. For instance, I might not see you all the time but we are very close. Some people will take offence; our friendship will cease to be. I have friends I don’t see, the day we see, we continue where we stopped.

They do not judge. They do not feel bad. As my friend, if you feel I’ve done wrong, do not judge, call me to ask me and I will explain why I did it. That’s what I owe you and that’s what you owe me. Friendship is not about getting up and shouting, ha na my paddy then tomorrow I go away. I don’t like to have surface friendships. I like to have friends and if they are my friends I will keep the circle small. That’s fine! But I can have acquaintances. I have people I talk to. I can laugh with anybody. At the same time I don’t have to laugh because not every day is okay for laughter.

As regards marriage, do you have reservations about certain tribes? No, I don’t. I just think a good man is a good man.

There was a time you said it’s difficult to get a good man; do you still have that notion? Is it not hard? I’ve checked it; all the good ones are taken. All the ones that have light shining on them are not the ones I’m looking for. I’m just waiting for the one that God will pop up and I will just say, hey! I’m right here. I think a relationship starts with having a friend. It starts with friendship, you get to know someone eventually something can happen or will not happen. You cannot force anything. You cannot say because society says it, then I must be married. What dirty respect? What if the man doesn’t even respect me? I want the society to respect me. Which one is more important at this point in time?

We know a lot of them are taken, but is that to say you haven’t seen any good one? So I should go and collect somebody’s boyfriend now?

Exactly what are you looking for in a man? You know when I find that thing I will tell you. I’ve said all sorts in different interviews but I think over the years I just streamlined it, I want a man who I can feel safe with. It’s not about money. But a man that you know has your back. That’s enough.

What about the biological clock…? My biological clock is not ticking anymore. I stopped it from ticking and when I want it I will tell it to start (laughs). I’m in control of this thing men.

Florence Ajimobi, Oyo's First Lady Denies Money Laundering Arrest In London

Wife of Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, Florence, has denied reports of her arrest by the Metropolitan Police in London.

Speaking with journalists in a telephone interview on Tuesday, the governor’s wife described the news of her arrest as the handiwork of the opposition trying to discredit the Ajimobi-led administration in the state.

An evening newspaper had, on Tuesday in its online version, published a report entitled ‘Anxiety over Florence Ajimobi’s alleged arrest in UK.’ An online agency, Newsleak, also claimed that the wife of the governor had been arrested in London for money laundering.

Asked if she was invited by the police since her arrival in London, she said, “No, not at all. I came back with my daughter on Sunday. Now, I am getting ready to come back home. I have not been invited by the police and I don’t know what all this is about.”

On the reason for her latest trip abroad, she said she took her 14-year-old daughter back to school after her holiday.

She said, “I have a 14-year-old daughter who has been here since 2007. She came to Nigeria for two weeks; we left Nigeria on Sunday morning. That is my mission here.

“I read the report here in England. I was shocked. I read it but there is no iota of truth in everything they wrote. I’m sure it is the work of the opposition and I am surprised that some people can descend so low to write falsehood.

“I am expected back in the country tomorrow (today) morning.”

Asked to confirm the allegation that she had since the inception of the administration travelled for 52 times, she simply said, “It then means I am not living in Nigeria. Maybe, when I travel back, I will show you my passport to count how many times I have travelled.

“I want you to deal with facts. If you look at my passport since 2007 and compare the way I travelled then with the way I travel now, you will discover that I travel less now.

“My daughter is complaining that I am not regular here. I make her come to Nigeria more because I can’t afford to spend 10 days or more over here.”

Meanwhile, the governor has instituted a N1bn suit against the Independent Communications Network Limited, publishers of PM News for the report.

One of the governor’s aide, who preferred anonymity, said, “So far the governor has spent 68 weeks. How do you reconcile the claim that the First Lady has travelled 52 times since the inception of this administration? Does it mean that she travels every week?”

Don’t we just love this DIVA?!

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

Former Director General, Centre For Democratic Studies, Prof. Omo Omoruyi, was on Monday flown abroad following his deteriorating health, But in a parting shot, the political scientist lamented
that former military dictator, General Ibrahim
Babangida, who appointed him as CDS DG, and
some of his friends had abandoned him to his fate.
Omoruyi was first diagnosed with cancer in 2007,
but his condition improved after receiving
treatment in the United States.

Speaking in Benin City, Edo State, before travelling
to the US, he appealed to President Goodluck
Jonathan and other Nigerians to come to his aid.
Omoruyi said, “I have been used and dumped,
especially by Babangida. Some politicians who don’t
like me were also preventing the President from
giving me assistance, after I sent a message about
my health predicament to him.

“My cancer is back and I don’t know how it will end.
Governor Adams Oshiomhole has graciously come
to my aid again. He is the one making it possible for
me to commence my second journey.

“In my book, My journey Back To Life, that is journey
number one. It will appear I am starting a second
journey, and how this second journey will end, I
don’t know. I am going to hospital in the United
States to commence a new treatment plan and that
treatment plan, how it will end, I do not know.

“In the book, I said in the life of a cancer survivor,
there are two fears. Fear number one is the fear of a
recurrence, that the cancer could come back. Fear
number two is that one could die.

“IBB abandoned me. I let him know about the first
journey. He did not help me, not even one kobo so I
cannot go to him for this second journey. In the first
journey I did not hear from him. I sent him a text
message that I am going back to the hospital. I have
also alerted some of my good people.

“I am going back to the hospital. President
Goodluck Jonathan should help me. I cried to him
through Chief Edwin Clark. There is vindictiveness in
the land. I have paid my dues in this country and
the country is unfair to me. What did I not do?”

***OBAFEMI MARTINS REJECTS LOVER'S CHILD; ABANDONS HIS FAMILY IN POVERTY IN LAGOS***

Nigerian footballer, Obafemi Akinwunmi Martins is said to be living large while his family languishes in poverty in Lagos, Nigeria. Sources revealed that t...
he Super Eagles striker and Lavante Football Club point man has allegedly abandoned his family to the mercy of abject poverty.
Sources swore that after the former Inter Milan striker gained fame in 2004, he has virtually turned his back at his family members at Orile Aguda in Lagos. Martins allegedly dumped his family members soon after the death of his mother.
The sources disclosed that some of his family members have resorted to squatting with friends after their Orile family house was demolished by Fashola's administration some years ago. Just recently, Martins bought two houses in VGC, Victoria Island, Lagos worth about N350million along with expensive cars.
Meanwhile, another source hinted that Martins has denied the child he got from a woman who stays in London. According to a reliable source, the lady named Katherine, had a child for Martins but the former Newcastle striker refused to accept the child from her.
Also, Martins' late brother's (Ladi) wife, Mariam, who had a baby for Ladi before his death, we learnt was never given any N5million as pay off as earlier reported in some sections of the media. Instead, it was alleged that Martins chased the poor woman out of his VGC home when she visited him (Martins).
Sources claimed that the woman was reportedly chased away by Martins with her pregnancy. As we further learnt, this has rendered the woman homeless as Martins allegedly sold Ladi's house and Range Rover Sport.
Also another source said the late Ladi's legal wife, Ugomma, who has two kids, is reportedly not living well in London where she works as a mortuary attendant.
It is expected that Martins will respond to these allegations soon and when that happens you'll get his own side of the story.

***LADIES: WHY YOU MUST GO FOR BREAST SCREENING IMMEDIATELY!***

At the start of 2012 all seemed to be going well for Kemi Thomas and her family. Their first child had just gained admission into a university, her husband’s business was begin...

ning to turn around after a difficult year and they had finally completed their own home and recently moved in; it seemed like it was going to be a good year.
In April, Kemi noticed a small but palpable lump on her left breast. Her doctor referred her to a teaching hospital and a biopsy confirmed that she had breast cancer.
Kemi had surgery in May at a cost of N100,000 to remove the lump and she is now having a course of chemotherapy which is costing her N35,000 each week. She will need six sessions in the first instance. She will require a second operation in due course, followed by radiotherapy for which a down payment of N100,000 is required.
Beyond this she is told that she will require treatment for at least five years for ultrasound scans, blood tests, kidney and liver function tests, chest X-rays, and so on; some of these will have to be repeated. Before the end of the first year, her illness had gulped N1.25 million and the costs kept piling up.
Members of Kemi’s extended family rallied round as best they could but the exorbitant costs over a prolonged period of time made it impossible for them to continue to contribute as they had done in the early stages of her treatment. Her husband had no choice but to put their new home up for sale to release badly needed funds to try to save her life. Their finances were being quickly depleted.
As October, “breast cancer awareness month” draws to a close, it is important for us to spend a little time focusing on this dreaded disease. Most people tend to overlook the financial implications of a serious illness. In our society it is seen as tempting fate to even consider the possibility that one could become really ill let alone the fact that one could die.
A key message for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the United Kingdom is that one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Without being absolutely certain of statistics here in Nigeria, it is clear that it is becoming more and more prevalent and provides us with another reminder about the importance of having health insurance in place that can help you access the health care you will need if you are diagnosed with a serious illness.
Whilst this will give you a better chance of survival, it is important to note that it is largely prevented through a healthy lifestyle with an appropriate diet, regular exercise and early detection through breast examinations and regular screening that improves ones chances of beating the disease. Encourage your loved ones to do the same.
Far too many people ignore the need for insurance until a major mishap or setback occurs; it is only then that the impact of inadequate insurance coverage becomes glaring. No matter how meticulous you are with your finances, failure to purchase adequate insurance can impair your financial future and put you or your loved ones in a desperate situation. Dire medical conditions are difficult enough to cope with; if you become ill, the last thing you need to have to worry about is mounting financial woes.
How healthy are you? If you or anyone in your family were to ever become gravely ill, can you afford the best medical treatment available? Do you have health insurance in place? Health insurance will cover at least some of the costs of treating the insured person’s illnesses or injuries. Some policies will pay for preventive care, such as annual physicals and diagnostic tests.
You may have health insurance as an employee benefit from your job or you may buy an individual health insurance policy for yourself and your family directly from an insurance company. You then pay premiums to purchase coverage and the insurer is obliged to pay some or all of your health care costs, based on the terms of your contract. Health insurance varies significantly from plan to plan.
As morbid as it might sound, can your loved ones afford to lose you? Can your family or dependants pay for the funeral, organise the family finances, service any outstanding debt and continue in their current standard of living? Or, would they face extreme hardship in the event of the death of their breadwinner? The main objective of life insurance is to replace income that will be lost should the policyholder become incapacitated or die.

Tonto! 10 Super flops: Why they failed as music stars

By DARRYL IGBOKWE

The release of Tonto Dikeh’s debut singles, “Itz Ova” and “Hi” on October 17, was welcomed by a storm of criticisms as music fans mercilessly lampooned the diminutive actress’ musical effort.
Aside the rage on Twitter and Facebook, Dikeh, the star actress of the controversial Dirty Secret, a 2010 movie with soft-porn elements, was made the butt of jokes even at the recently held Headies Award, where a mock award was given out in her honour by the event’s hosts - MI and Omawumi.
However, Dikeh is not the first to transit from movies to music; rather her poor attempt is the latest addition to the long list of Nollywood icons, who having conquered the thespian world, mistakenly strayed out of their primary constituency of make-believe to the melody-making world of music.
A rundown of other actors-turned music-wannabes include many A-list movie stars. Following the gale of criticisms generated by Dikeh’s songs, Entertainment Express delves into the bag of history and comes up with a review of 10 star Nollywood actors whose attempts at making music ended as super flops.
Turn over leaf for the authentic list, which was carefully chosen by EE’s editorial board and anchored by Steve Dede, without malice.

Tonto Dikeh
Deservingly, there is no doubt on who leads the pack in the super flops star-studded list of successful Nollywood stars that ventured into music and failed woefully.
The budding music career of sultry Rivers State-born actress, Tonto Dikeh in medical parlance will be described as DOA (dead on arrival) going by the uproar generated by the release of her two singles. Ironically, the songs, entitled “Itz ova” and “Hi” made their debuts online and may be one of the most downloaded songs in recent times.
However, from amusement to outright ridicule, the reaction has continued to pour in. By the end of the first day of release, Tonto Dikeh was already a trending item on all platform of the blogosphere. Thousands of fans engaged in a match of mockery with pictures and artworks that ridicule Tonto Dikeh’s music career. Even celebrities were not left out with snide remarks from the likes of new R&B sensation, Burnaboy and Chocolate City rapper, MI Abaga.
The question on everybody’s lips has been what motivated her to record a song? But why fans and critics are yet to wrap their thoughts around her intentions, the Ikwerre-born actress declared via her Twitter handle that she has achieved her goal.
However, her music foray did not come unannounced, few months ago, news broke that the popular actress and repentant but incurable smoker was in the studio working on her debut singles. Many believed that she obviously wanted to join the bandwagon that says ‘I’ve been singing since I was in my mother’s womb’ or the‘I used to sing in the choir’ opportunists.
Despite harsh criticisms from left, right and centre, she was given a mock diadem at the recently held Headies award by the show’s hosts, MI and Omawumi; the diminutive actress has however revealed that she is undeterred by the numerous flaks thrown at her by fans and critics alike. That is not all, Tonto Dikeh has vowed to shoot a music video which may hit the screens before the end of the year.

Desmond Elliot
Desmond Elliot’s music career was a one-off, something that the actor-cum-producer may have even forgotten about. But time and again, the proud father of twin boys has proved his mettle in acting and directing. However, the same may not be said about his music career. The talented actor made no pretence about venturing into secular songs but opted for songs suitable among adult church goers.
The Lagos State University graduate had a brief stint in the music business after a successful career as an actor, but his gospel songs refused to make any mark as his acting career.
After a gospel song entitled “Jesus Loves You,” the star of Bursting Out apparently gave up on his music career following the reception he received. It is pretty sure we won’t be seeing any more music adventure from the renowned movie guru. He also made it clear recently that he is not a musician and regretted being pushed into music by one of his trusted mentors in Nollywood.

Jim Iyke
He was dubbed Nollywood’s bad boy actor. Nobody does bad-boy stuffs like Jim Iyke who was born James Esomugha and hails from Anambra State. Perhaps, this may explain his preference for rap music. Just before the actor launched his clothing line Untamed Closet last year, he made a brief foray into music with the creation of his music label also called Untamed Records where he released an unsuccessful album entitled Who Am I which featured A-list stars like 2face Idibia and Sound Sultan. He followed this up with a music video of the same song. He later released another video for his other song “Born To Do” This featuring Puffy T.
The controversial thespian is definitely not going back to music as he publicly announced on stage while hosting the 2011 edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards with Phone Swap lead actress, Nse Ikpe-Etim, that he will be sticking to what he knows how to do best. In his own words, Iyke said: “Actors should stick to what they do, including me”, after Nse teased him about his song “Who am I.”.

Genevieve Nnaji
Arguably one of Nigeria’s finest Nollywood exports to the world, Genevieve Nnaji according to CNN in a recent documentary is the Julia Roberts of Africa. She is a national award recipient and winner of the AMAA Best Actress in a Leading role in 2005.
Following a one-year ban alongside other top stars from Nollywood over their excessive artiste fees and unprofessional conducts, the Imo State-born actress plunged head-long into music. After signing a recording contract with Ghanaian music record label, EKB Records, the 33-year old’s debut album, One Logologo Line was an eight tracker album which was retailed on online music site Amazon for $7.92. To further promote the album, which had a very poor reception and was hugely criticized, Nnaji officially released a video of one of her singles, “No More.”
The video enjoyed air play for a while, but could not stand the test of time, a fact she later blamed on the management and poor markteting strategy and not what some described as her obvious lack of musical talent, depth and creativity. She has since learnt her lessons and like Jim Iyke stuck with acting at least for now.

Omotola Jalade Ekeinde
Her first movie role came in the film Venom of Justice in 1995, and since then, she has grown to become a household name within and outside Nigeria. Starring in numerous Nollywood blockbursters, the curvy Nollywood queen was in every producer’s dream cast. When she was hit with a ban alongside other top Nollywood acts for one year, she decided to give music a shot. Her first album Gba was released in 2005 on Sound Factory label comprising  songs such as “Show Me Love” featuring Sound Sultan, “Dance” featuring Ruggedman, “Things You Do to Me” featuring Nana King, “Don’t Flip”, “Honey Boy”, “Life or Death”, “What You Looking At”, “Baby Girl”, “Things You Do to Me” featuring Pasto Goody Goody and the album’s supposedly hit single, “Naija Lowa (Gba)” featuring Six O.
Some years later, Omotola teamed up with Paul Play, Del B and Harry Song to produce her sophomore album Me, Myself and Eyes which was launched on Friday, September 24, 2010 on Red Hot Records. Songs on the album include; “Feel Alright” featuring Harry Song, Barren Land, “Call Me”, “Get Busy” featuring Harry Song, “Harmony”, “Missing You”, “Through The Fire” featuring Uche, “Never Let Me Go” featuring Tito, “Keep Going”, “Through The Fire” featuring Paul Play and “Stop The War” featuring Mode Nine.
Despite being one of the most successful movie stars in Nollywood, the Ondo State-born mother of four did not make impact with her music adventure. However, the sexy star is not backing down on her drive for music, as she recently revealed that she is currently working on an album, which may be released before the end of the year. May be after that, her inclusion on this list may be contested, but for now, she is a worthy member of the super flop roll call.

Cossy Orjiakor
What she lacked in talent, she definintely made up with her boobs. The Nollywood queen of boobs is always making news just for one reason - her boobs. Either she is flaunting her most natural endowments or promoting her provocative ways of dressing which usually attracts attention. Madam ‘Boobilicious’as some would like to call her tried promoting her music career but failed woefully.
Our Lady of Boobs even tried winning fans by  dropping a nusic video, You Want Me,but it failed woefully to register its mark. It is obvious her auto-tune induced voice is not good enough to give her a hit in the music industry. She has recorded a couple of songs and also shot videos, but they were not enough to guaranty her the much desired musical success.
Whether the Anambra State-born struggling actress will continue with her sojourn in the music industry after failing woefully is uncertain, but there is 100 per cent assurance that she will continue to be in the news for what she is best known for- exposing her boobs.

Segun Arinze
Nollywood’s original bad boy, Segun Arinze once enjoyed a thriving music career way before he became one of Nigeria’s leading movie personalities. His name Segun Arinze originated and became popular as a musician, as his music label felt that his then name, Segun Aina sounded unmarketable. Thus Segun Arinze stuck and the name became the brand we now know today.
His debut album, Dreams released in 1992 under Premier Music label, spun quite a number of hits and contained some of the best love ballads at that time. “Nwanyi Nganga”  was one of them. After the album, Nollywood came calling so he had to concentrate on movies, jingles and voice Over thus abandoning his first love.
His music career sprung up again last year when he released a single entitled “Power to Say No” featuring Tuface Idibia and Sunny Neji while Mike Aremu played soprano sax on the ballad “Love me Tonight”. The full album never attained the height it was expected and since then nothing musically has been heard from the baritone-voiced actor .

Shan George
When few years ago, Shan Goerge released her debut single which announced her arrival into the music industry from the movie world, many thought she would be a fantastic singer just as expectations were very high. But events later showed that she is rather needed more in the acting profession than the singing world.
After the very poor outing of her songs on air and in the market, the controversial actress has again gone back to the studio to do something different. To force her way into music industry again, Shan George employed the services of embattled music producer K-Solo for her new single “Ababa”.
Shan didn’t stop there as she also featured ace musician, Sunny Neji. The single was released last week almost at the same time with that of Tonto Dikeh, but the buzz around Tonto’s singles overshadowed her own release.

Ernest Asuzu
From acting to fashion and finally to music, Ernest Asuzu has done virtually everything in the entertainment industry. Seen as one of Nollywood’s versatile characters, Asuzu’s bad boy image goes beyond the screen. Having perfected his act in the movie world and launching his clothing line JDB ( Jesus Da Boss), the thespian under the name EL Cream released his debut album entitled Earnestly Speaking, last September. He never hit the ground running with the 14 tracker album which had songs like “Na you”, “Thank you Baba”, “My Destiny” and other rhythmic songs featuring acts like Black Faze, MC Loph, Terry G, among others.

Anita Joseph
Anita Joseph’s claim to fame was by dating KC of the defunct KCPresh fame. As a struggling actress she later took her luck further by delving into music and failed woefully. The controversial actress earlier in the year finally released her debut single entitiled “Go Gaga”. The song which has been in the pipeline for a while, managed to receive some airplay with plenty uncomplimentary reviews, before  going underground. Ever since, nothing has been heard from her musically.
