VIDEO: Wizkid Speaks With Komla Dumor Of The BBC

A few weeks after label boss Banky W was interviewed on the BBC, Pop star Wizkid has also been featured.

In the two-minute teaser interview with BBC’s Komla Dumor, Wizzy talks about how his family, most especially his father, have adapted to his overwhelming success.

Wizzy also responds to Dumor’s question on why most young Nigerian singers only sing about wealth and materialism. ‘Occupy Nigeria…I was fully supportive of that. I’m always ready to push stuff but at the same time, I just want to have fun. So you have to be realistic with it. If you want young people to listen to you, you have to use what they like to attract them to listen to you‘.

AFCON 2013: Ghana Deny Match Fixing Again

The Ghana Football Association has moved swiftly to refute allegations of match-fixing leveled against them by the media, labeling the stories as a mischievous campaign against the Black Stars.

In a statement published on the Ghana FA website, the association denied attempting to bring a Niger defender. The full statement read as follows:

‘Our attention has been drawn to a report carried by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) and Radio Gold claiming that Ghana attempted to bribe a Nigerien player before Monday’s Africa Cup of Nations clash against Niger.

The report was filed by GNA and Radio Gold who are represented in Port Elizabeth by Veronica Commey and Nana Darkwa respectively.

‘You Can’t Play On A Pitch Like This!’ Adebayor Slams Mbombela Stadium

Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor has slammed the Confederation of African Football (Caf) and the local organising committee for the state of the pitch at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.

The Tottenham Hotspur player complained about the sandy and bumpy surface after Togo drew 1-1 against Tunisia on Wednesday to reach the playoffs of the continental competition for the first time. They face Burkina Faso in the quarterfinals on Sunday.

Zambia captain Chris Katongo had also spoken out earlier in the week about the uneven field which made it difficult for teams to play their normal passing games.

‘Once again we are in Africa – Afcon is a big tournament for Africa –the whole world is watching this. You can’t play on a pitch like this,’ Adebayor said.

The incredible sketches of Nigerian artist, Kelvin Okafor

27 year old Kelvin Okafor is a graduate of Fine Art, Middlesex University and is now making waves across the world with his incredible pencil drawings that looks like photographs. 

Kelvin creates each piece only in black and white, using graphite pencils, charcoal, and black coloured pencil. He's exhibited at numerous major art galleries and won several national awards for his remarkable work. His work is currently on display at the The Watercolours + Works on Paper Fair at the London Science Museum, until February 3.

Kelvin writes on his blog:

'I aspire to create art as vivid as eyes could see. I want my drawings to prompt an emotional response, making viewers feel as though they are looking at a real live subject. I’ve always been creative, but fell in love with using pencils in particular. 

It amazed me, that with only one shade of lead, you can create so many tones and textures, and almost create the illusion of colour. It was only when my images started to create a buzz with other Middlesex University students that I realised their impact.'
