PDP Tells Imo Assembly Speaker To Resign

The PDP in Imo has called on the Speaker of the state assembly, Mr Benjamin Uwajimogu, to resign for allegedly claiming to be a member of the party.

The Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Mr Blydan Amajirionwu, made the call in Owerri on Tuesday while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Reacting to a report that the speaker was still a card-carrying member of the PDP, Amajirionwu said he had told “a sufficient lie” by claiming to be a PDP member whereas he had decamped to APGA.

``Uwajimogu is no longer a PDP member; he cannot dump the party without any justifiable reason to join APGA; now he wants to be a PDP member.

``To me, that’s a deceit and that is the party’s position,” he said.

In a reaction, the Special Assistant to the Speaker on Media, Mr Samuelson Iwuoha, urged the public to discountenance the call by the PDP publicity secretary.

Iwuoha said that since the speaker had told the people that he was still a member of the party, the call for his resignation was uncalled for.
