Has America spoken?! Is Matt Lauer's time on morning Television about to expire?!
The Today show is apparently consistently losing viewers to rival showGood Morning America, and rumor has it that IF the show's ratings do not improve by February, Mr. Matt will get the big, shiny AXE!
One insider reveals:
"News executive Alexandra Wallace has told NBC bosses she will have to replace Matt if the ratings continue to tank…If viewers continue preferring Good Morning America over the TODAY show that revenue will decrease and cuts will have to be made. Matt’s contract pays him $25 million-a-year.Alexandra has told her bosses if the show isn’t pulling in more viewers by February, she has no alternative but to fire Matt. The replacement is likely to be Willie Geist."
Ooooo sorry dude.
But hey, Matt can't expect that after years of allegedly being a less-than-stellar coworker to your colleagues — something that became blatantly evident during the weeks before Ann Curry left the show — that people are going to continue watching!
No one wants to see a pompous person making them feel awkward in the morning, and lately, Matt's just one big bundle of cringe-worthymoments!
